A 'Griefy' Day

It was a 'griefy' day yesterday! I went to an exhibition called 'Let The Memory Stay Sweet,' where the emotional and moving artwork displayed was created by people bereaved by suicide. There were some thought provoking expressions of grief, bereavement and loss, contributed by the members of the 'Beside You In Bereavement Group' (https://byib.co.uk/).

Later that day I did some training with Cruse to further my understanding of bereavement and loss. As always it set me thinking, particularly about loss.

Whilst out walking, I noticed that there are already some yellowing leaves beginning to fall from the trees.

The trees are reaching the stage where they reclaim the chlorophyll and let their leaves go. This could be seen as a loss for the trees but it also feels like a small loss for me and it reminded me that summer will soon be coming to an end. I don't know if this is the usual time, but it feels early when it's still July. I'm not ready for summer to go.

We experience small losses regularly and today, because of earlier in the day, exploring how we sit with loss and incorporate it into our understanding, I was looking at them differently.

The end of summer is such a small loss but an important part of our world view and sometimes noticing the small things can be a helpful, healing element of the bigger losses that we experience on our way through life. Nature always helps me to reset.
